The Bharat Educational and Skill Council (BESC) follows a structured Winter/Summer examination system, which is conducted twice a year, in April and November. Previously, exams were conducted under a 30:70 ratio, where 30% of the marks were allotted for internal assessments, and 70% for external examinations. Currently, the ratio has been revised to 40:60, meaning 40% of the marks come from internal assessments, and 60% are from external exams. Both theory and practical exams last for 3 hours, and a student must secure a minimum of 40% in each theory and practical paper to qualify for a general pass. Additionally, students must earn 40% of the total credits to be promoted to the next academic year.
An Advanced Supplementary Examination is conducted within 30 days from the results declaration for students who failed or were absent in one or more final year papers, allowing them to avoid losing an entire year. Question papers for the exams are uploaded to the official BESC website, www.bescedu.org, during the examination months of April and November. To access the question papers, students are required to contact the institute to obtain a password. Examination dates and related details are also available on the website.
Examinations are typically conducted at the institute itself, with the presence of an external invigilator to ensure transparency. Divisions are awarded based on total marks, and results are uploaded to the official BESC website after the exams.
